Hopstem completes nearly 200 million yuan Series C financing to accelerate its core iPSC programs.
On August 10, 2026, Zhejiang Hopstem Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (or Hopstem) announced the completion of the first tranche of its nearly RMB 200 million Series C financing. This round of financing was jointly participated in by new shareholders Tasly Capital, Haibang Investment, and Guangzhou Health Industry Investment, as well as existing shareholder Longmen Capital.
Dr. Fan Jing, founder of Hopstem, stated: “Based on the positive results of our Phase I clinical trial for hemiplegic sequelae of ischemic stroke, our company’s world’s first forebrain neural progenitor cell injection, hNPC01, recently received Regenerative Medicine Advanced Therapy Designation (RMAT) and Accelerated Clinical Pathway (FTD) from the FDA for the indication of ischemic stroke. Furthermore, we received IND approval and Fast Track designation for indications of chronic motor dysfunction caused by hemorrhagic stroke and motor dysfunction caused by traumatic brain injury. This fully validates our strategic focus on significant unmet clinical needs and the advanced nature of our platform technology. The funds raised in this round of financing will be used to accelerate the clinical development and commercial production preparation of our products for multiple indications. We are delighted to join hands with more professional partners at this crucial stage of our company’s accelerated development to bring differentiated and innovative iPSC-derived cell therapies to patients with urgent neurological diseases worldwide as soon as possible.”
“Tasly Capital continues to focus on innovative sectors with significant unmet clinical needs. Current treatment options for stroke sequelae are extremely limited, and stable hemiplegia represents a global clinical gap. Hopstem’s hNPC01 directly addresses this pain point, demonstrating positive efficacy in Phase I trials and receiving RMAT designation and IND approval from the FDA, validating the clinical potential of iPSC neural cell therapy in the field of nerve repair. We look forward to our products benefiting patients worldwide soon.” said Ji Haibin, Managing Partner of Tasly Capital.
Shan Jialiang, Managing Partner of Haibang Investment, stated: “Stable hemiplegia following stroke represents a huge unmet clinical need, placing a heavy psychological and family burden on patients, who have a strong desire for treatment. We are delighted to see that Hopstem’s hNPC01 injection has demonstrated positive and sustained efficacy in dozens of clinical patients, and has recently received RMAT approval from the US FDA and two new indication IND approvals. We look forward to this product benefiting patients worldwide as soon as possible.”
Feng Zhizhong, General Manager of Guangzhou Health Industry Investment, added: “Hopstem leverages its proprietary iPSC platform to build a globally leading pipeline of neural cell therapies. Its product, hNPC01, combines first-mover advantage in domestic clinical trials with FDA Advanced Therapy Designation, demonstrating significant value in addressing major clinical needs such as stroke and traumatic brain injury. Its technological barriers and commercial prospects are outstanding. Guangzhou Health Industry Investment is firmly optimistic about the long-term development opportunities in the regenerative medicine sector, and this investment will fully empower the company to accelerate clinical development and industrialization. Guangzhou Health Industry Investment will continue to leverage the industrial ecosystem resources of the Greater Bay Area to facilitate the transformation of domestically developed original cell therapy innovations and promote the high-quality development of the domestic CGT industry.”
“This is our third investment in Hopstem. There are tens of millions of patients with hemiplegia sequelae in China, and there has been no good drug for them. hNPC01 has shown good safety and breakthrough efficacy in clinical trials, which is of great clinical value and market opportunity. At the same time, the company has several leading pipelines in the CNS field. We believe that Hode will become one of the best companies in the world in the iPSC and CNS fields in the future” said Wang Haining, Founding Partner of Longmen Capital.
